Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness - IMPACT Stories

This is the first Impact Story in our new series highlighting the work of young entrepreneurs who are alumni of our Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness course in 2023. This story introduces Naswirah Nalukwago and her Ugandan rabbit farm.

This is the second Impact Story in our new series highlighting the work of young entrepreneurs who are alumni of our Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness course in 2023. This story introduces Tadeo Monday and his piggery business in Uganda.

The third Impact Story in our series highlighting the work of young entrepreneurs who are alumni of our Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness course in 2023. This story introduces Jane Lewinsky Mozere, who is working hard to develop a Mulberry tree plantation so that she can provide Mulberry Tea to the people of Kenya.

The fourth story in our Impact series is about Cornelius Kipruto, a young entrepreneur from Laikipia University in Kenya who has launched a bio-fuel business to combat climate change by using cow dung to produce clean and efficient biogas.

In our fifth impact story we would like to introduce Sandra Ankunda. Sandra’s business, started in 2020 with the support of her family, is called Sandra Matooke Enterprise Limited, and is located in Mbarara, western Uganda. It processes matooke, a variety of starchy green banana (plantain), into instant matooke flour and raw matooke flour.

Our sixth Impact story explores Ugbad Garlic Production, a farm business led by Arimye Amhed Mohamed in Somaliland aiming to provide high quality garlic to local markets.

In the seventh story of our Impact series we explore the work of Sylivia Natundula and how Goshen Maggot Farm is producing Black Soldier Fly as a cost effective, safe and nutritious animal feed in Northern Uganda.

The eighth story in our impact series features Victor Ssenabulya from the Uganda Christian University in Mukono, Uganda. Victor is further growing his rabbit business, focusing on the production of soil improvers, fertilizers and pesticides based upon rabbit droppings and urine. There's an old saying in Yorkshire "where there's muck, there's brass" and Victor is ably demonstrating that animal waste can indeed be turned into a profitable business.

Dortea Nakandjibi is the focus of our ninth, and penultimate, Impact story from Cohort 5 (2022/23) of the Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness course. Dortea is a student at the University of Namibia and aspires to launch the first digital market app in the country, linking small holder farmers directly with markets in the countries capital.

Our final story in our series highlighting the impact of young African agri-food entrepreneurs who have completed our 'Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness' course is about 'Hamse Abdirahman'. Hamse is studying veterinary sciences in the remote community of Sheikh in Somaliland, where he is establishing a sheep fattening business with the support of his university which he then aims to continue after graduation.
