May Update for partners

Dear Friends and Colleagues

I would like to take the opportunity to give you a brief update on our progress towards an international partnership to support youth-driven agripreneurship in Africa.

As you will immediately see from this update, we have designed our logo, something we hope will become synonymous with the Alliance and its aspiration to be a lean, evidence based and action orientated partnership organisation focusing on the needs and aspirations of young agripreneurs in Africa and beyond.  You will also see that we now have an address, we will take on the lease of a small office in LoftA46, a small community arts project based in Montreux from 1 June 2017.

We continue to work on the legal framework and have had good discussions with colleagues in the government of Canton de Vaud.  We will have the Statutes of the Association completed very soon and will therefore be able to put out a formal call for ‘Founding Members and Partners’ on or before 6 July 2017.

We continue to prepare for our display at the ‘Planting Seeds for Future Foods II’ event on 6 & 7 July 2017 at Nestle headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland and I am very grateful to colleagues who have contributed images and ideas.  I hope that many of you will attend the event and that we will have the opportunity to talk about areas of mutual interest.

I was delighted to be invited to speak at the “Youth, Agripreneurship and the Sustainable Development Goals” workshop on the 8 May in Stockholm Sweden.  This event was organised by SLU Global and SIANI and hosted by SIDA.  I realise that’s a lot of anacronyms, but please check out their links to find out more about them.  You can find out more details on the workshop here

Finally, I am grateful to those of you who agreed to have links from to resources on their own websites.

As always, many thanks for your support and interest, please contact me if you have any questions or ideas that you would like to share and I will ensure that I keep you fully informed of all developments.

Steve Carr
